Bird Flu Found In Renville, Meeker Flocks
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials said Thursday that two more Minnesota flocks are presumed positive for bird flu, bringing the total number of farms affected in the state to 87.
The Minnesota Board of Animal Health said the two recent flocks affected by the virus are an egg-laying chicken flock in Renville County and a commercial turkey flock in Meeker County.
It's not yet known how many birds were in those flocks, but the total number of birds euthanized in Minnesota due to the virus is well over 5 million.
Bird flu has hit the Midwest, and the prices of eggs and turkey meat have risen as a result.
