Bicyclist Believes He Was Attacked In Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minneapolis bicyclist believes he was assaulted last month while riding home on the city's streets.
According to a GoFundMe page for Zac Schneider Roberts, the 22-year-old artist and musician was biking home on Sept. 9 when he suddenly lost consciousness. He woke up in an ambulance, with severe injuries to his face.
"Based on the nature of his injuries and the fact that his bicycle is missing, we can only surmise that he was assaulted and his bicycle stolen," his GoFundMe page states.
According to the page, Roberts suffered two broken bones in both his jaw and nose, a fractured skull and bleeding in his brain. He has four missing teeth and had to have 22 stitches on his face.
Surgery will be required to repair Robert's jaw, and it'll have to be wired shut for up to three weeks, the GoFundMe page states.
The suspected attack came one month after Minneapolis police were investigating a string of attacks on bicyclists in the city.
In these attacks, which date back to June 20, a driver is suspected of throwing chunks of concrete at cyclists. The suspect vehicle was thought to be a white truck, possibly a Ford Bronco.
While Roberts has insurance, he is asking for help in paying the deductible, copays and rent while he recovers.
