Source: Former Gophers AD Gets Job At UConn

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- The former interim athletic director for the University of Minnesota athletic department has accepted a job in Connecticut, sources tell WCCO's Mike Max.

According to the sources, Beth Goetz has accepted a job as the associate athletic director at the University of Connecticut, with an emphasis in football.

Goetz was named interim athletic director at the University of Minnesota after Norwood Teague resigned last August amid allegations of sexual harassment involving two women who work at the university.

She had said she wanted to be considered for the permanent position at the U and she was one of the leading candidates to replace him. She was responsible for naming Tracy Claeys as the permanent football coach for the Gophers.

However in May, U president Eric Kaler announced that Mark Coyle had been selected as the finalist for the open athletic director position.

At UConn, the 41-year-old Goetz will oversee all operations of the athletic department and serve as the sport administrator for football.

Minnesota announced the departure Thursday of Goetz, who was hired by Teague in March 2013 to be his deputy. For nearly five years prior to that, Goetz was an associate athletic director and senior woman administrator at Butler.
