Best Of Minnesota: Kid's Birthday Party
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Planning a child's birthday party can be difficult. There are only so many times you can eat pizza and play skee ball.
So where did WCCO viewers pick as the Best Place for a Kid's Birthday Party in Minnesota?
A place where it can be just as fun for parents and children alike -- the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley.
Celebrating a birthday at the Minnesota Zoo has all the staples -- arts and crafts, kid-friendly games, and cake.
But, there's something else you just won't find at other birthday destinations -- nearly every animal under the sun.
With more than 500 species at the zoo, children are bound to learn something.
"I think that the birthday parties are a really unique thing to do here in the Twin Cities because not only are you having fun … but you're also learning something," Tait said.
A presentation by a zoo educator is a part of every birthday party, which parents like, and children see it as a chance to hear more about their favorite animals.
From tuxedo-toting penguins, to big bears -- there's plenty to keep children engaged all day long.
And the zoo's staff pitches in to take some of the pressure off Mom and Dad.
"It's a great way for the parents to sit back, relax, and take pictures of their kids having a great time," Tait said.
