If you really want reality training in self defense, not self defense training from reality TV shows, you've come to the right place. This martial arts school has complete self defense programs in kickboxing, MMA, BJJ and eskrima, which is the Spanish term for the art of stick fighting. Don't worry. Some of the toughest dudes have trained here, but so have genteel folks with no previous martial arts experience.

There are so many programs to jump into at Minnesota Kali Group: Jeet Kune Do, Kali & Panantukan, Silat and others. But before taking to the mat or jumping into the Muay Thai fray, Phase One should be your first move. Phase One is not a boot camp, but an introduction to all the academy's martial arts programs. All MMA training is phased in.

In addition to international martial arts, The Cellar teaches traditional American-style boxing. Former boxing great, the late Muhammad Ali, would have loved to spar here. Competitive boxers and beginners are given the same core training and conditioning the champs received.

Although not traditionally considered in the same group as Kung Fu, fencing is also a martial art. You can dashingly learn to wield a sword at the Minnesota Sword Club, one of the few fencing schools in Minnesota. This facility teaches a variety of fencing techniques at sword's point. Fencing is not simply a game of swords. As in a game of chess, you match wits with your opponent. You also develop grace, coordination and concentration.
