Best Knitting Shops In Minnesota

As an avid knitter and knitting instructor, nothing calms my nerves more than getting lost in a yarn shop. If you knit, crochet or just enjoy being blown away by color and texture, check out some of these great knitting shops around the Twin cities and one definitely worth the drive, in Buffalo, MN. Though I haven't had the opportunity to frequent all of these shops, I have heard about them by reputation and will share with you what I do know or have heard.

Amazing Threads

11262 86th Ave N.,
Maple Grove, MN
amazing-threads.com

Amazing threads may be tucked away in Maple Grove but worth the find. Along with what they tout "amazing threads," the gals who work there are the friendliest and most helpful. They offer classes and teach them in a beautiful sun lit loft.

Needlework Unlimited

E 4420 Drew Ave S.
Edina, MN
needleworkunlimited.com

Tucked away off France, Needlework Unlimited offers up all the yarns and patterns you could ever want and wonderful notions too. The staff is very helpful and they've been written up in one of the national knitting magazines.

The Yarnery

840 Grand Avenue
St. Paul, MN
yarnery.com

The Yarnery was voted best knitting story by City pages. I have never been, but if you count experience as criteria for a good knitting store, the Yarnery has been around for 35 years. It's in a house! Knitters like a homey feel. The Yarnery offers that plus, great yarn selection and classes.

3 Kittens Needle Arts

750 Main St, Ste 112
Mendota Heights, MN
3kittensneedlearts.com

What I have heard about 3 kittens are the gals who run the shop. This is a fun knitting store. Those I know who frequent 3 Kittens always have stories about their visits. Great yarn selection, books and patterns and they offer kits for those who like a little help in get a project started.

Silver Creek Cabin

6 Division St. NE
Buffalo, MN
silvercreekcabin.com

A friend invited me to Silver Creek Cabin. It's located in the lower level of a store. It doesn't seem like much as you head down the stairs until you get into the shop. It's like a warehouse; rows upon rows of yarn! The lighting is dim in some parts of the store so you have to walk around to more well lit parts to test your colors. But a friendly owner is more than accommodating in helping you get what you need. Lots of pre-knit gift ideas too.
