Best Coffee Shops In Minneapolis
I consider myself a very jittery person, which is something people who know me would definitely agree on. So, I decided it was only fitting for me to go out and discover some great places to grab a good cup of brown caffeine in Minneapolis.
Most of these coffee shops are new to me, but some hold a special place in my heart from my sleep-deprived college days -- memories that I'll both cherish and resent.
Not to leave St. Paul residents and visitors out of the loop, I plan on doing the same thing for Minnesota's capital. Stay tuned.
So, take a drink of this list. I hope you find something you will enjoy!
Wilde Roast Cafe
518 E. Hennepin Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Walking into this Oscar Wilde-inspired café, immediately you'll find out that this is no ordinary place. Customers can grab a coffee and hang out on a Chesterfield couch next to a fireplace! Wilde Roast also offers wine and great food.
Uncommon Grounds Coffee House
2809 Hennepin Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Now, this place is interesting. You will feel like you are visiting a old mansion -- because that is exactly what you are doing. According to the Uncommon Grounds, it made use of a Victorian house that was built in 1877. Enjoy a great cup of coffee and a home-like atmosphere.
Spyhouse Coffeeshop
2451 Nicollet Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Spyhouse very effectively combines atmosphere and drinking coffee. It offers free wifi and a comfortable environment.
The Purple Onion Cafe
1301 Southeast University Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
The Purple Onion boasts that it is "More Than A Coffee Shop!" The statement is certainly true. This coffee place offers quality coffee, food and free wifi to the collection of energy-deprived University of Minnesota students and staff who frequent this establishment. The only real drawback is parking. There are only meters nearby, but there are usually spots available.
Overflow Espresso Cafe
2929 University Ave. Southeast
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Overflow, located right off of University Avenue, has great coffee and great landscaping. There is outside seating and a beautiful pond, so get to this place before the winter!
Isles Bun & Coffee
1424 West 28th St.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Isles is known for its cinnamon rolls, but why not stop in and grab a great coffee while you're at it? Located in a great area of Uptown with inviting sidewalk seating, customers will not be disappointed.
Hard Times Cafe
1821 Riverside Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Sometimes, a great place to get coffee is not at a typical coffee shop. This is the case with Hard Times, because the food is so ridiculously good here. Don't be turned off by the unconventional ordering method that required you to write what you want on piece of paper. Hard Times has great organic coffee, amazing vegetarian dishes, delectable muffins and much more.
Espresso Royale Caffe
411 14th Ave. Southeast
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
For me, visiting the Royale conjures fond memories of cramming for tests and writing massive papers (ones that were quite tedious compared to this article). More importantly, the taste of the great fresh coffee is something I remember. Visitors beware, because this place is overrun with college students!
Corner Coffee
514 3rd St. N.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
As you can see by the above picture, oddly enough, Corner Coffee is not located on a corner! Put that little tidbit aside and you are left with a great downtown spot to get your brown drink on.
Bob's Java Hut
2651 South Lyndale Ave.
Minneapolis, MN
Directory | Website
Bob's Java Hut is a coffee shop for the motorcycle enthusiasts, but don't let that discourage you -- it's a great spot with tasty coffee and a relaxing atmosphere.
