'Beer Guy' Auctioning Glass Of Obama's Ale For Charity
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Now's your chance to taste beer brewed by President Barack Obama.
A small glass is being auctioned off for charity.
A Minnesota man named Bradley "The Beer Guy" Magerkurth landed a bottle during a chance meeting with the president in Iowa last month. Obama stopped at a coffee shop, and the two got to talking about beer. An aide brought Magerkurth an unlabeled bottle of honey ale brewed at the White House.
Magerkurth has decided to let the highest bidder try a taste.
"How many times do you get the leader of the free world to shake your hand three times and give you a beer?" Magerkurth said. "And then you get to share it among a group of friends and somebody local is going to be able to join us -- or maybe not local."
Anyone can donate through the University of Minnesota and have a chance to taste the president's beer.
The highest bidder will try the beer at the Taste! wine and food event next Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
The proceeds will go to Amplatz Children's Hospital.
