Basilica Block Party Organizers Brace For Heat
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the 18th annual Basilica Block Party in downtown Minneapolis. And with temperatures reaching 100 degrees, precautions are being taken.

"We have several precautions in place for our guests. The safety of our concert goer is our utmost priority," said Murphy.
They will have water for sale, and they will be giving tours of the Basilica, which is air conditioned. Murphy said they will also have a mister for people to walk through to cool off.
"And our first aid tent is well equipped to handle any folks that do get dehydrated," he said.
Murphy said they are on track for a double sell out, which would be the first time in the Block Party's history. He said they have 18 bands to celebrate the 18 years, including Train and Cake as the headliners on Friday night, and O.A.R. and Avett Brothers headlining on Saturday night.
The proceeds go to the restoration and renovation of the Basilica as an historical landmark, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul outreach program that helps the less fortunate in the city.
