Bail Set At $2M For Man Accused Of Biting, Killing Infant Son
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Bail has been set at $2 million for the Itasca County man accused of biting and killing his infant son.
Emery James Jenkins, 38, of Deer River, faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder in the death of his 3-month-old son.
Officials say Jenkins lied to investigators last October, blaming the bite marks on his child's chest, hands and feet on his neighbor's dog.
His girlfriend later told police that she and Jenkins made up that story before calling 911.
Jenkins appeared at a hearing Tuesday in Itasca County District Court, where his bail was set at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions, including GPS monitoring.
Currently, he is being held in the Itasca County Jail.
Jenkins' trial is slated for January.
