One dead after small plane crashes near Bong Bridge in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. -- Authorities say one person is dead after a plane crashed near the Richard L. Bong Memorial Bridge in Duluth Friday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4 p.m., shortly after the small single-engine plane took off from Duluth Airport.
The victim is David Rathbun, a 52-year-old man from Hermantown. No one else was in the aircraft at the time of the crash.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.
