Authorities Investigating Gas Leak At Stillwater Prison
STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities are on the scene of an apparent gas leak at the Stillwater prison, according to Washington County Dispatch.
Authorities said the gas leak happened between buildings when contractors digging in the area to replace concrete hit a natural gas line. Officials said the leak happened within a secured area of the prison where offenders do metal working and welding. Offenders were evacuated to living units across from the prison while crews work to fix the leak.
Officials said no staff or offenders were injured as a result of the gas leak. Crews have capped the gas line, and the Minnesota Department of Corrections is assessing the damage.
