Authorities: 2 Injured After Snowmobiles Crash In Open Field

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two men have been taken to the hospital after their snowmobiles crashed in an open field near the Brainerd Airport, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday at 3:02 p.m., deputies responded to a personal injury crash involving two snowmobiles off of County Road 142 in an open field – near a designated snowmobile trail.

The two men involved in the crash have been identified as 47-year-old Joseph Novick of Burnsville and 27-year-old Richard Mills III of Minneapolis. They both suffered severe injuries as a result of the collision.

Novick was airlifted to North Memorial in Robbinsdale. Mills was transported to Essentia Health in Brainerd.

Both men were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
