Austin Texas Brings Traveling Tunes To MN, Across The U.S.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The folks in Austin Texas sent a couple of musicians on the road trying to lure visitors back to Austin for a big music festival.
It may not look like much, but the 1970s Airstream in Uptown Minneapolis is a traveling music machine.
"We take it out on the road as part of our promotional vehicle that we take to many cities around the U.S.," Julie Chase said.
Inside it's filled with boxes of swag to pass out, and space for the musicians.
"We have lots of musicians that come in and do interviews in the back area," she said. "They do a bit of recording, and we have lots of groups on video."
Outside, the eye-catching paint job is more than a moving billboard -- it's a backdrop for sidewalk concerts, and a background for photo-ops.
Pictures posted on Twitter with the hashtag ATXAirstream are eligible to win a trip to Austin.
The Austin Airstream will be near Calhoun Square until 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, at First Avenue from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at the Mall of America.
