Augustus Is Western Conference Player Of The Week
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus has been named WNBA Western Conference player of the week for the third time this season.
The league made the announcement on Monday. Augustus helped the Lynx to a 3-0 record last week that helped the team clinch the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoff picture.
She averaged 17 points per game in the victories and also shut out San Antonio All-Star Becky Hammon on the defensive end in a win over the Silver Stars on Friday night. Two days later, Augustus helped limit Hammon to 1-for-12 shooting in another win over San Antonio.
Augustus is eighth in the WNBA with 16.6 points per game and is shooting nearly 51 percent from the field.
The Lynx host Washington on Tuesday night.
