Ariz. DOT Seeks Revenue From Minn. Company's Signs
PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona Department of Transportation officials are responding to the state's budget crisis by looking at the 2,200 signs posted on rights of way of rural highways with logos of gas, food and lodging businesses.
Arizona Logo Sign Group charges businesses a monthly fee to post logos on the blue signs, and ADOT spokesman Tim Tait says the state currently doesn't receive any of the $2.5 million of annual revenue from the decades-old program.
Tait says discussions are under way with Arizona Logo Sign Group concerning the state's desire for revenue from the program but he says no decisions have been made.
The current contract expires at the end of the month.
Arizona Logo Sign Group is a unit of Minnesota-based Logo Signs of America Inc.
