Are You Sitting On Vintage Toys? Sell Them
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- You know those old toys you or maybe your parents have held onto? This week they could make you a little extra money.
The Minneapolis Vintage Toy Buying Show lets you bring in old toys in any condition for cash. And when they say "in any condition," they do mean it -- they can be broken, dirty, in desperate need of repair.
Edward Moody talked with toy scout Joel Magee Tuesday morning about what he looks for when people bring in vintage toys. He said he looks for toys from just about any bygone era, even leading up into the Muppet lunchboxes of the '70s and the He-Man action figures of the '80s.
"We want you to dig through your attics and find all your old toys that have been hiding for all these years," Magee said. "A lot of people worry about condition but, no, we have restoration people that can fix them up."
Magee did say that toys that are brought in finer condition will naturally earn their sellers a higher price. Sales at the show are made in cash. Magee said that they typically pay about 70 percent of retail value.
"We want everybody to feel like they got a fair deal on their toys," he said.
The Minneapolis Vintage Toy Buying Show will be held at Springhill Suites by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport International Airport and the Mall of America in Bloomington through Saturday, June 28. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Admission and parking are free.
