Apple Valley Man Charged With Robbing Man Who Sought Sex
APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – A 22-year-old man has been charged with a felony for robbing a man who came to an Apple Valley apartment expecting to pay for sexual services.
According to the Dakota County Attorney's Office, Abdoul Said Kone threatened to kill the victim before robbing him of his money and cell phone.
On June 27, 2012, Apple Valley Police were dispatched to an after-the-fact robbery call where the victim stated that he contacted a woman for sexual services via an advertisement on Backpages.com. When the victim arrived at the address provided by the woman, she asked him to go into the bedroom. After she left, three men entered the room and began to reach into the victim's pockets.
As the victim resisted, the men pushed him against a wall, began hitting him, and told him to remove his clothes. The victim claims that one male in particular, later identified as Kone, pulled a small knife on the victim and stated, "I will kill you Motherf*****."
After the victim was robbed of his money and phone, the men instructed him not to leave or they would kill him. The victim waited 15 minutes, and then escaped the apartment by a bedroom window.
When the victim came back to the apartment with police, the apartment manager allowed them access since the apartment was considered vacant. Police determined that the previous renter was 21-year-old Dominque Cheri Cullom, who they knew was associated with 22-year-old Kris Laymay Ewing.
From a look at Ewing's Facebook page, police located a picture of two men in a pool uploaded to the site from a cell phone on the day of the incident. One of men in the photo was tagged as Abdoul Said Kone.
Police then traced the phone number advertised in Backpages.com to a juvenile female from Apple Valley, who admitted to luring people to the vacant apartment to be robbed by Kone, Ewing, and a third man who has yet to be identified.
Kone is currently being held at the Dakota County Jail.
