Apple House Is Open At The Minnesota Arboretum
CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) -- It's a sure sign of fall -- the Apple House is open at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen.
The Apple House offers a variety of fruit developed at the University of Minnesota's Horticultural Research Center, as well as other produce and lawn and garden plants. It's open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through early November.
The Apple House is a large, rustic shed about 1.5 miles west of the Arboretum entrance on Minnesota Highway 5.
Arboretum operations manager Pete Moe says the apple crop is probably the best in four years.
LaCrescent, Zestar, and some experimental varieties should be among the first apples on the shelves, followed by SweeTango and others. Honeycrisps usually arrive in mid- to late September. For information on current available varieties, call 952-443-1409.
