Police Investigating Apparent Heroin Overdose Death In Moorhead
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in Moorhead are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man as an apparent heroin overdose.
According to police, the victim, identified as Ahmad Hajar Amin Gardi of Moorhead, was found by family at their residence at around 9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Overdose antidote Narcan was administered, but it was unsuccessful, police said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Sanford hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Moorhead police said that within the last week, two other incidents happened where Narcan was administered for overdose victims. Those victims survived.
"Law enforcement agencies throughout the metro continue to publicly warn anyone using and/or abusing narcotics to be deliberately mindful of the rapidly increasing number of tragic deaths due to overdose that have been occurring," police said. "Please seek help if you are personally identifying with having a drug problem."
Police add that in addition to a public awareness campaign, authorities will continue to aggressively target those who sell and distribute narcotics.
