AP Surprises Students To Thank Them For YouTube Video
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. (WCCO) -- A "Call Me Maybe" parody inviting Adrian Peterson to a school in Rosemount has more than 280,000 hits on YouTube. But today, it got results.
Peterson sent a video to the school -- and then he really surprised them.
It was purple and gold day at Alliance Education Center, a special ed school in Rosemount.
A chance to enjoy the video and get a special thank you from Adrian Peterson.
They knew he'd be on video, but they had no idea he'd show up in person, too.
"And I was like so excited, it was just like my jaw dropped," said 8th grader Josh Guertin.
"I thought, man, this is a celebrity right in front of my eyes," said Jabarius Ray, a 10th grader.
Peterson stayed for almost two hours, signing autographs and even asking for some.
"It's real easy for me to do things like this because I know how much it means to the kids and know how much it inspires them," he said.
Peterson also shared a special moment with the guy who played him on the video.
"It's a very nice day, I should say that," said Endre Gunter, who played "AP" in the YouTube video. "It's a very nice Tuesday, right, best Tuesday I'm ever going to have."
AP's visit wasn't just a surprise for the kids.
The only teachers who knew he was actually coming were the three who made the video.
