Rumors Surface About Adrian Peterson's Retirement
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Adrian Peterson's future with the Minnesota Vikings still seems to be up in the air.
Organized Team Activities, or OTAs, began Tuesday with no sign of Peterson, and he has made it no secret that he wants out of Minnesota.
A report by CBS Sports Tuesday hints at the fact that he could retire from the NFL. Of course, anything is possible.
Head Coach Mike Zimmer said last week he was very comfortable with his understanding of when Peterson would report the June's mandatory mini camps.
The Vikings are just going to sit this one out as they should. If another team was that interested in trading for Peterson, it would have happened on draft night.
Peterson could retire and walk away from not only the $12.75 million due this year, but potentially another $45 million or more despite being 30 years old.
Even if the Vikings decide to fine Peterson for missing June's mandatory camp, they could easily waive those fines at the end of his so-called holdout.
Bottom line -- get used to these national stories popping up until training camp.
As we've seen in many poker tournaments, the Vikings are sitting at the table with their sunglasses on, waiting for AP's next move.
