Anonymous $1K Red Kettle Donor Is Back
ST. ANTHONY, Minn. (WCCO) -- You've probably noticed the Salvation Army's red kettles and bell-ringers out extra early this year. So has Saint Grand.
That's the affectionate name given to the anonymous donor who made a habit of donating $1,000 to a number of red kettles last year, in bundles of 10 crisp $100 bills.
The Salvation Army reported that an anonymous $1,000 donation had been made to the Cub Foods in St. Anthony on Saturday.
Last year, the Salvation Army reported 23 separate incidences of $1,000 being donated to area kettles, which helped the organization raise $5.6 million by Christmas Eve.
This year's campaign goal is to raise $9.8 million, which may be a little easier than it would've otherwise been given this year's holiday shopping season is as long as it can possibly be, with 33 days between Black Friday and Christmas.
So far, they have reportedly raised $1 million.
