Mom Charged With Manslaughter In 3-Year-Old's Death
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Anoka mother of a 3-year-old boy, who died after suffering severe abuse, is now being charged with manslaughter.
Elizabeth Moorman, 40, was previously charged with child neglect. On Wednesday, Moorman's charges were amended to include second-degree manslaughter.
Moorman remains in custody at the Anoka County Jail.
Moorman's boyfriend, 25-year-old Anthony Urban, was charged earlier this week with second-degree murder on top of his previous charge of first-degree assault.
Police say Urban admitted to hitting the boy while helping him brush his teeth, which led to the child falling and hitting his head on the ceramic floor.
The toddler died on Sunday after being put on life support at Hennepin County Medical Center, with little chance for survival.
Urban said that he did not bring the boy to the hospital or call 911 because Moorman told him not to, according to the criminal complaint.
Urban remains in custody on a $1 million bail.
