Andover Students Sleep Out For Homelessness
ANDOVER, Minn. (WCCO) -- Some kids in Andover are sleeping in the snow Friday morning, all to help the homeless.
The Outdoor Adventures classes are sleeping in structures built from snow, called quinzhees. They're similar to igloos, but not as permanent. The students spent a lot of time by a fire and also fasted before sleeping out.
It's a reminder to help out those who are less fortunate both during the holidays and when it gets dangerously cold out for those who don't have a place to call home.
"Because it's really a crappy state to be homeless in the winter," one student said.
Everybody involved in the initiative donated money or supplies for homeless charities.
