Amery (Wis.) Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threat
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials say schools in a western Wisconsin district had to be evacuated for a short time Thursday after receiving a report of a bomb threat.
An official with the Amery School District said they received a phone call at about 8:55 a.m. Thursday indicating that a bomb had been planted in "the school" and that students needed to be evacuated.
It wasn't immediately clear which school was at risk in the threat. As a precaution, school officials evacuated all students and staff members and they were relocated to a predetermined safe location. Law enforcement and emergency personnel searched all four buildings within the school district and once they were deemed to be clear, students and staff returned to their buildings.
District officials say the teaching and support staff also included transportation and food service employees, and all students responded to the threat in a positive manner.
