American Red Cross Hosting 12-Hour Blood Drive Monday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The American Red Cross is hosting a big blood drive Monday. Officials said they want to boost the supply before a lot of donors go out of town or get too busy over the holidays.
The 12 Hours of Giving Holiday Blood Drive started at 7 a.m. Monday and goes until 7 p.m. It's at the Prom Center in Oakdale, which is at 484 Inwood Avenue North.
The first blood donor to arrive Monday morning was none other than Santa Claus. He donated blood shortly before the drive kicked off. The Red Cross is also treating donors to free gift wrapping, a T-shirt and a gift bag.
The American Red Cross also will have hourly prize drawings and holiday entertainment throughout the day.
