3 Injured In Ambulance Crash In Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Three people were injured after an Allina ambulance was involved in an accident with two other vehicles, according to authorities.
The crash happened at Main Street South and 18th Avenue Southwest in Cambridge at about 2 p.m. Monday.
According to Isanti County authorities, the vehicles involved in the accident aside from the ambulance were a dump truck, driven by Chad Sader, 32, of Pine City, and a 2005 Chevy Impala, driven by Raymond White, 87, of Stanchfield.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, White suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
Police say the ambulance, driven by Timothy Hansen, 25, of Ogilvie, was traveling south on Main Street, with its lights and siren activated, when White pulled in front of it and was t-boned by the emergency vehicle.
Hansen had two passengers in the ambulance, 35-year-old David Schlicher, of Rush City, and 54-year-old Richard Killinger, of Stanchfield. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
According to the incident report, the ambulance also struck a dump truck, which was pulled over on the shoulder after seeing the ambulance coming down the road.
A spokesperson with Allina said after the crash three people were transported to Cambridge Medical Center -- two by air ambulance and the other by ground transportation.
After the crash, the patient aboard the ambulance was airlifted back to Cambridge Hospital for evaluation and then transported by helicopter to Abbott Northwestern. It's not clear which of Hansen's two passengers was the patient.
White was airlifted from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center.
