Amazing Buzzer Beater At MN H.S. Basketball Game
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- What happened in the final seconds of a high school basketball game has a lot of people talking.
The buzzer beater from half-court put the girls of Roseville over Totino-Grace by one point on Tuesday night, and it's not the first time this match up has come down to the final moments.
The Roseville Raiders were back on the basketball court to practice, just hours after a win that caught the entire school's attention.
The girl's knew their first game of the season wouldn't be easy.
"It was pretty back and forth the whole game. They were up for the majority, but a couple times we came back," said Emma Schaefer, a sophomore player for Roseville.
What they didn't know is it would come down to two seconds and the power of a sophomore player.
"Our coach just said try to get the steal if you can," said Schaefer.
"She got the steal, passed it to me," said Jacqlyn Poss, a sophomore player.
"As I started walking down the sideline looking up at the score clock I thought this kid's going to make the shot," said Jeff Crosby, Roseville coach.
"I turned around right as it went through the net and it went in and I still can't believe it now," said Schaefer.
"It just happened. I still can't believe it. That's what a live for," said Poss.
Poss has played on the varsity team since 8th grade. It's her second year as a starter.
"Some kids say they're good basketball players and they put the time in. Jacquelyn is one that does," said Crosby.
We asked Jacqlyn to try to make the shot again and she hit the backboard just about every time. And 54 launches from half court later she made it.
"That just showed me that you never want to give up, that just showed me right there," said Poss.
Turns out, this is the third game in a row that Roseville beat Totino-Grace by one point in the final seconds.
