Alaska Airlines Plane Lands At MSP Due To Unruly Passenger
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials say an Alaska Airlines plane headed from JFK Airport to Seattle had to be diverted to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Monday due to an unruly passenger.
The incident happened at about 9:45 a.m. Authorities say a passenger on the plane attempted to access a rear door in the aircraft. Alaska Airlines officials say the plane was at a cruising altitude at the time, and it's not possible to open the door at that altitude.
The plane landed at the MSP Airport, and the passenger was removed to be taken into custody. Officials say the flight resumed to Seattle. It's not known how long the plane was in Minneapolis, but the delay was about two hours.
MSP Airport officials say the passenger was restrained on board, detained and questioned by police. The passenger was then taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital. The FBI was brought into assist with the investigation.
The passenger has not been identified, and it's not known why the passenger tried to gain access to the door.
