Sen. Franken Urges Congress To Begin Hearings For New SC Justice
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minnesota lawmaker is joining in the fight to start hearings on appointing a new Supreme Court justice.
Vice President Joe Biden addressed law students at Georgetown Thursday. He defended his record on judicial nominations.
Meanwhile, Senator Al Franken stood with members of the Minnesota legal community calling for Congress to hold hearings on nominee Merrick Garland.
"I think he's really the right choice at this time for this at this time because he is a consensus nominee. I wouldn't say he is a Republican or a Democrat," Franken said.
Franken is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He said the Senate must do its job and fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court.
