Airport-Goers Run Into Unusual Parking Problem
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Some people flying out of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Wednesday got an unexpected delay.
The parking lot was full at the main terminal. Airport officials said a large amount of spring break travelers are leaving their cars in the long-term parking lot.
Parking workers had to send some travelers over to the value lot at Terminal 2, previously known as the Humphrey Terminal. The good news is that the terminals are linked by the light rail line and it's free.
But the whole process takes time and can often give travelers a delay they didn't plan for.
"When I give myself enough time the parking is pretty easy and when I don't I'm usually in a rush. But I've got about an hour, I'm not too worried about it," said traveler Jon Newburg.
"No point in being upset by it. I'm very pleased there was an alternative route when you think how far one could travel with all this luggage. But it's fine," said traveler Ginger Zierdt.
The airport expects to run into this problem off and on for the next month, mostly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as heavy traffic continues over spring break.
But you can always check on parking availability online and over the phone.
