Peterson Agrees To Contract Extension With Vikings
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Adrian Peterson has apparently agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the Minnesota Vikings for the long-term future.
Peterson, 26 and the team's top overall draft choice in 2007, was in the final year of his contract and was eligible to become a free agent. It could've been devastating for the Vikings to lose one of the top running backs in the NFL.
The exact terms of the contract have not been released, but reports are out that Peterson agreed to a 7-year deal worth about $96 million, with $32 million guaranteed. In that case, Peterson would be with the team at least until he turns 33.
The signing comes the day before Peterson and the Vikings face the San Diego Chargers in their season opener.
