Adopt-A-Family In Need This Holiday Season
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This holiday season you and your family can truly do something unique. You can adopt a family.
Radio station 102.9 WLTE FM is teaming up with the Salvation Army for the Adopt-A-Family program. They're holding a radio-thon Wednesday and Thursday for you to sign up, and then the information will then be mailed to you.
It's designed to provide Christmas gifts and food certificates to needy families in the Twin Cities.
"For the people who are adopting these families, who are sponsoring it, they get to invest in people's lives and make a difference. And they can see the difference they're making because they meet the families," said Annette Bauer with the Salvation Army.
If you want to participate, just listen to 102.9 FM to call in and sign up. Participants commit to purchasing new gifts for each child in the family, as well as a gift card for groceries. After signing up, you'll receive information on contacting the family to get their wish list. The gifts will be delivered on Dec. 17.
