A Maple Grove Girl's Mission To Make A Difference
MAPLE GROVE (WCCO) -- Sports is an ideal teacher for life. Sometimes it's a way to get away from troubles, and sometimes it's a platform to help someone else. It's been all of the above for 12-year-old Rose Gallagher from Maple Grove.
The first time we were introduced to Gallagher she was attending a function at a Timberwolves with a group of children who had lost their hair through a condition called alapeicia. It was a harsh blow, but a future blessing.
Her spirit helped her lead a cause to Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Watching a television special, they observed pure poverty there, so Mimi encouraged her daughter to do something about it -- and she did.
