A Look Behind The Scenes Of Macy's Santaland
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's something that's become an annual holiday tradition for many Minnesotan families. Santaland at Macy's in downtown Minneapolis is spreading the holiday cheer once again this year.
Edward Moody takes us behind the scenes to find out what it takes to put this festive display together each year.
The display is not only unique to Minneapolis -- it's unique for Macy's. Out of more than 800 Macy's stores, this is the only place where you can immerse yourself in a winter wonderland and walk through an animated display, plus visit Santa.
The theme this year is A Day In The Life of Elves. Visitors can walk through and experience the full day, from the time the elves wake up, head to elf school and of course, get started on their very busy jobs.
More than 250,000 people walk through the magical display every year. Macy's Manager of Special Productions Donna Bachman said that's thanks in part to many family's annual tradition. It's a must before the holiday season is complete.
Plus, it's not just family fun, it's for a good cause. For every letter that comes in for Santa -- up to one million -- Macy's makes a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation.
