A Bumpy Ride Ends At Duluth Airport
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - An Allegiant Air plane had to return to Duluth and make an emergency landing after engine trouble.
Brian Ryks, executive director of the Duluth Airport Authority, says the plane landed safely just before 9 p.m. Friday at Duluth International Airport. National Guard firefighters and other emergency responders were standing by.
The Duluth News Tribune reports the engine failed about 50 miles into the trip and the crew shut down one of the engines, declared the emergency and headed back to the airport.
There were no reported injuries. The plane had about 140 passengers and five crew members and was bound for Las Vegas.
Lisa Clements of Chisholm says she heard a loud bang about 15 minutes into the flight.
