A 3rd Man Pleads Guilty In Death Of Mpls. Man
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The last of three men charged with killing a man by jumping on him "like a trampoline" has pleaded guilty.
Tony Baker, 34, of Brooklyn Center, was originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of 41-year-old Kerry Scott. He will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and is expected to be sent to prison for 64 months.
Scott had been found lying face down behind a home on Nov. 17, 2012, on the 3300 block of Girard Avenue North.
According to the criminal complaint, three men confronted Scott in the basement of the home on Girard Avenue about a possible theft. Witnesses told police they saw the trio kicking and punching Scott in the kitchen, then dragging him into the backyard.
There, witnesses saw Scott lying at the base of a retaining wall and the three men were jumping off and landing on the victim, "like a trampoline."
The trio fled the scene when the police were called. An autopsy determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Deandre Stokes, 26, and Jacquin Boyd, 17, both of Minneapolis, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting unintentional second-degree murder and each were sentenced to 128 months in prison.
