911 Transcripts Show Struggle To Connect After Lilydale Landslide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In the frantic first minutes of a St. Paul field trip tragedy, chaperones and emergency workers struggled to connect.
Two children from an elementary school in St. Louis Park were killed in a landslide in Lilydale Regional Park in last month.
Transcripts of 911 calls show field-trip supervisors had a hard time explaining exactly where help was needed in the park.
And once emergency crews were there, they had a hard time finding the kids.
In one phone call, a chaperone says, "Good God. I can hear sirens everywhere, but I don't see anybody."
She repeatedly pleads with the dispatcher to get the emergency trucks to stop, and explains she can't flag them down because she's "trapped in the park behind a chained fence."
The city has closed the park while it investigates what caused the landslide.
