80 St. Cloud-Based Soldiers Leave This Weekend
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- Eighty St. Cloud-based soldiers are leaving home this weekend to help the drawdown phase of military operations in Iraq.
The Minnesota aircrew members and support personnel will travel to Fort Hood, Texas, for about two months for training before their 10-month deployment to Iraq.
The soldiers are from Company B, 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment.
They will be flying CH-47 Chinook cargo helicopters, helping move troops, equipment and supplies.
A departure ceremony is Saturday in St. Cloud.
