68-Year-Old Man Drowns In Sand Lake, Near Warba
WARBA, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 68-year-old man is dead after an apparent drowning on Sand Lake.
The Itasca County Sheriff's Office received a call of a missing person around 3:10 p.m. on Sunday on Sand Lake, near Warba.
Authorities say Hal William Leasure, of Warba, was later found floating face down in the water, approximately 50 feet from the end of a dock. His lawn mower was found near the lake and his work gloves were also floating in the water.
Leasure was pulled to shore by bystanders.
Police say he appeared to be filling buckets with lake water off the end of his dock and fell in.
An autopsy was performed and it was determined Leasure died from an apparent drowning.
