5 Hospitalized After Night Of Shootings, Stabbings In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis police have arrested two people after a dramatic night at what appears to be a motorcycle bar.

It was a chaotic scene at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the 2600 block of Golden Valley Road. One person was stabbed, two people were shot and one is reported to be in critical condition.

Two people were arrested on weapons charges. Officers say Andew Tyus tried to flee the scene, and Kevin McInnis is being held for assault.

Neighbors say the club where this happened is a motorcycle club. Late Saturday night, they heard much more than loud engines.

The ripped tape is symbolic of a night marked by crime. A night neighbors say is not symbolic of this building.

"It's always quiet. It's cool, it be peaceful you know what I am saying," one area resident said Sunday after the violent night.

"I've never ever seen any problems here. There's a lot of loud motorcycles and stuff otherwise, no problems, I like 'em," another resident said.

But things became problematic Sunday morning. The video shows what happened - officers move into a bar and take person after person out.  They say one man was stabbed, two others shot. A man took a bullet to his ankle and most seriously, a woman was shot in the head, left in critical condition.

One neighbor said he thinks he heard 50 shots.

"This is crazy, the worst I ever heard, sounded like a warzone out here," the resident said.

Officers quickly made two arrests. Kevin McGinnis was arrested for assault on the scene.  Andrew Tyus was arrested for fleeing the scene. Officers say both had weapons.

HLMC is the only marking on the door of the building where the shootings happened. HLMC sometimes stands for Hell's Lover Motorcycle Club. Now what appears to be a low-key private place has now become quite public.

Officers say they spent the daylight hours Sunday doing interviews. They say they need some tips to try and figure out how this happened.

That was just one of three overnight acts of violence in Minneapolis.

Near downtown Minneapolis, there was a shooting just after a bar close in the 400 block of Third Avenue North. Police say a 26-year-old was shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the victim would not cooperate with investigators. No arrests have been made.

Later in the morning, police responded to a call of a knife fight in south Minneapolis. It happened near the intersection of 38th Street and Longfellow Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Police say a man was stabbed in the chest.

Police are trying to determine what led up to the attack and who is responsible.
