4 Things To Know: State Of Emergency In Ferguson, 'Lady' On Mars & More
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- From more developments in Ferguson to an interesting image captured on Mars, here are the four stories to know for Tuesday, Aug. 11.
State Of Emergency In Ferguson
A state of emergency is in effect in Ferguson, Missouri. It comes after several days of protests marking one year since the death of Michael Brown.
The black, unarmed 18-year-old was shot and killed by a white police officer.
Nearly two dozen people were arrested overnight for blocking traffic. And another 50 people were arrested earlier in the day for a sit-in at the federal courthouse.
New photos from Mars have people asking: is there life on other planets?
NASA's Curiosity Rover has been sending photos of the planet's surface since it landed on the red planet in 2012. But a new image is raising eyebrows.
A website called UFO Sightings Daily says the shadowy image looks like a cloaked woman.
The site points to images in the same picture that may or may not be a vehicle, a home of some sort and some sort of tracks.
One of literature's most famous names may have had some drug-induced inspiration.
Researchers in South Africa say tests of pipes once belonging to William Shakespeare found traces of cannabis and cocaine.
The team suspects that Shakespeare was a drug user during his career.
In fact, Shakespeare's 'Sonnet 76' may contain some references to drug use. Throughout its lines, Shakespeare refers to a "noted weed" and "strange compounds."
We now know the lineup for the first "Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
