4-Man Crew Back In Minn. After Hudson Bay Journey
GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) -- A four-man crew is back in Minnesota after a journey by canoe from Lake Superior to Hudson Bay.
The four traveled over 1,300 miles on their 77-day adventure, which began in late May. They paddled and portaged through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park, through Voyageurs National Park and Lake of the Woods, then up to Lake Winnipeg and north on the rivers that flow to Hudson Bay.
Andrew Spaeth, Adam Maxwell and Mike Swenson knew each other from their years working at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters at the end of the Gunflint Trail. They were joined by Will Turner who worked at the nearby Wilderness Canoe Base.
They reached York Factory on Hudson Bay on Aug. 8 and arrived home Sunday.
