4 Killed In Pine County Crash Identified
PINE CITY, Minn. (WCCO) — The four people killed in a Pine County collision between a pickup truck and semi earlier this week have been identified.
The victims in the Tuesday crash were all from Askov, Minn. They were 58-year-old Arden Edwards, 21-year-old Brett Larson, 20-year-old Catherine Peterson, and 17-year-old Felicity Jensen.
The semi hit the passenger side of the pickup where the Edwards was sitting.
A 20-year old-male was also injured in the crash, and was taken to hospital. That person is currently in critical condition, according to Pine County officials.
Two of the four people who died were riding in the open bed of the pickup when the crash happened near the farming community of about 400, said Pine County Chief Sheriff Deputy Steven Blackwell.
The semi was traveling 55 mph, Blackwell said. The wreck was so violent that it was not immediately known whether the three people in the pickup's cab were wearing their seat belts, he said.
Debris scattered hundreds of feet into the nearby woods. The victims, all thrown from the pickup, may have been transporting items from one farm to another when the accident happened because wood and other things were strewn about the crash scene.
