3 Wis. Counties On List Of Most Expensive Places For Health Insurance
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you live in Polk, Pierce, or St. Croix County in western Wisconsin, you're likely paying about twice as much as your neighbor across the river in Stillwater.
Kaiser Health News has published a list of the 10 areas where health insurance is most expensive in the United States, now that Affordable Care Act is in effect.
David Heupel is a Senior Health Care Analyst at Thrivent for Lutherans in the Twin Cities.
"These are examples of how this process is leading to some unprecedented changes, both good and bad, as it relates to health care," Heupel said.
Health Insurance Costs
Heupel says part of the reason for the variation is that people in rural areas have fewer options in health care and there are not as many people in the heath exchanges.
