3 Survive Crash With Cow In SE Minnesota
RED WING, Minn. (AP) -- A Rochester man is recovering after crashing into a wandering cow in southeast Minnesota.
Nineteen-year-old Joshua Pettey was driving with his mother and girlfriend near Red Wing Sunday when the cow stepped onto a road.
The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports the 1,500-pound cow smashed through the windshield. Pettey was hit and lost control, ending up in the ditch.
Pettey's mother, Danielle David, says her son was knocked unconscious. And while she was worried about her son, David says she "felt bad for this poor, sad cow."
A Goodhue County deputy put down the animal. Pettey was airlifted to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, where he spent the night as a precaution. A CAT scan showed he had suffered a concussion.
Pettey's mother and girlfriend were not hurt.
