3 Minn. Cops Disciplined Over Footwear Receipts
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) -- Three police officers in Grand Rapids have been disciplined for submitting false receipts for footwear.
The Grand Rapids Herald-Review reports the officers were suspended last month without pay.
The newspaper obtained documents from the city through the Data Practices Act. According to the documents, the three officers submitted expense receipts — each in the amount of $213.75 — for boots from the Cop Stop in Grand Rapids.
But the Herald-Review reports one officer bought a pair of cheaper boots, another officer actually bought boots from Gander Mountain in Duluth, and the third intended to use the reimbursement to recondition another pair of boots.
Two officers were suspended for 28 days each and one for 14 days.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Jim Denny did not immediately return a phone message Thursday.
