3 Men Charged In Police K-9 Stabbing Incident
MAPLEWOOD (WCCO) -- Three men have been charged in connection to the stabbing of a Roseville Police Department K-9 on Nov. 12, 2010, the Maplewood Police Department announced Tuesday.
Ryan Dorner, 22, James McBain, 20, Roel Perez, 21, were all charged with possession of burglar or theft tools and attempted theft, which are both felonies. In addition, Perez was charged with killing or harming a public safety dog, which is a gross misdemeanor.
The dog, Major, was stabbed three times in the head and once in the chest. He also suffered blunt trauma that likely damaged one of his vertebrae.
If convicted of all charges, Perez faces up to 6 1/2 years in prison, while Dorner and McBain could see up to 5 1/2 years in prison.
