3 Arrested After Drug Bust In Sauk Rapids
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Three men were arrested on Friday following a large drug bust in Sauk Rapids, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies observed a speeding vehicle at about 3:40 p.m. that day in the city of Sauk Rapids that also had its tabs expired. When authorities stopped the car, they detected an odor of marijuana.
An investigation revealed about 1.5 ounces of marijuana in one of the suspect's jackets, along with a holster for a handgun. That suspect was later identified as 22-year-old Trevor Burton of Sartell.
Two other men were removed from the vehicle while police continued to search the car for drugs and weapons. A loaded .45-caliber handgun was removed from the vehicle, authorities said.
Two of the suspects, identified as 25-year-old Barry Lambertson of Oak Park and 18-year-old Alex McCarty of Sartell, had in their possession methamphetamine that was valued at more than $2,200. Investigators also seized more than $2,000 in cash during the investigation.
All three were arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail. During questioning, one of the suspects told police about a car in the area that had more drugs inside. When authorities located the vehicle, they discovered about $10,000 worth of high grade marijuana, $1,200 worth of methamphetamine, 50 doses of suspected LSD and 12 prescription pills.
